The old vines of the south south-east facing slopes grow on massive coralline limestone soil (16 mio year old coral reef ). The outstanding vintage 2019 impresses with deep mineral and citric flavours, caper salt & black currant. A lot of limestone spices are present which leave an eternally long taste. May be drunk young, but werecommend 3-5 years bottle ageing.

Soil: Single-vineyard Grassnitzberg was the first vineyard owned by family Tement and was planted in the early 50s by grandfather Josef Tement. Located in a closed mountain basin on 300 - 420 m above sea level with a South - Southeastern exposition and characterized by sandy-loamy coralline limestone soil. Again an offspring of the Paratethys ocean. Unique for especially cold nights, which lead to elegant wines with an herbalmineral note with a tangy saltiness.

Vinification: After natural fermentation 18-24 months in big neutral oak casks sur lie; bottled unfiltered.

More than 15 years ago we started taking the first steps towards organic farming. We are now in the phase to convert to biodynamics. A logical step for us and a beginning without end. Every year we learn something new, observe nature and get closer to it bit by bit. We see our business as a form of modern circular economy in which wine is part of an overall concept. Partnerships with horse and cattle farmers have just as much space here as the use of the company’s own forest for energy production. Wine as a way of life.
