Single-vineyard Grassnitzberg was the first vineyards owned by family Tement and was planted in the early 50ies. The old vines of the south south-east facing slopes grow on massive shell-limestone soil.
The overwhelming vintage 2017 impresses with a mineral flavours such as pear, caper salt as well as black currant. A lot of limestone spices are present and leave an eternally long taste.
May be drunk young, but after 3-5 years, the typical "Grassnitzberg terroir notes " emerge.

With the end of the 2018 vintage we made it public and started a never ending journey. Year after year we understand a tiny bit more. Now we grow not on acreage but on responsibilities.
