Zieregg Sauvignon Vertical
packed in collector's box
2019 - 2014

Our icon in six acts. Just as complex as life itself. Fully ripe citrus fruit, some litchi, and black currant. Firm and mineralic. Fascinating from the very first sip. Citric, salty, and indefinitely long. Attractive when young, irresistible when aged. Limited to 20 pieces.

Südsteiermark

Christmas is coming soon. This year we release a vertical of single vineyard Zieregg with the following Sauvignon blanc vintages:

  • 2019 (organic)
  • 2018 (organic)
  • 2017
  • 2016
  • 2015
  • 2014

Packed in our exclusive collector’s box.

Characterized by cambisol soil and coralline limestone soil, the old vines grow on a 16 mio. year old coral reef. The southern faced exposition forms the aroma of this wine in a very distinctive and expressive way: In the deep nose the exceptional vintage shows a slender, smoky flavour spectrum underlaid with elegance and limestone spices. Incredibly mineral, structured and completely independent. Air helps bring out aromas reminiscent of salt lemon and pineapple as well as thyme, gooseberries and camphor. Palate fuming minerality, salt flowers and preserved lemons. Great ageing potential!

Appellation: Südsteiermark

Vinification: After natural fermentation 24 months in big neutral oak casks sur lie; bottled unfiltered

Our Standards

More than 15 years ago we started taking the first steps towards organic farming. We are now in the phase to convert to biodynamics. A logical step for us and a beginning without end. Every year we learn something new, observe nature and get closer to it bit by bit. We see our business as a form of modern circular economy in which wine is part of an overall concept. Partnerships with horse and cattle farmers have just as much space here as the use of the company’s own forest for energy production. Wine as a way of life.
