Sauvignon Blanc

Big Bottle Time!  Royale elegance with an extravagant nose. Elegantly floral with notes of orange flower and –zest, tropical fruitiness, and an idea of gooseberry. Fresh and straightforward on the palate with just the right amount of velvety creaminess. The mineral-salty notes stay on the palate for what feels like forever.

The profundity of the sandy light soil type allows very fast growth through the vine roots in low lying, water bearing zones. On this terroir, Sauvignon Blanc usually develops vegetal, herbal aromas combined with softer fruit flavours.

After natural fermentation this Sauvignon Blanc was matured 24 months “sur lie” in big neutral oak casks.  Bottled unfiltered.

A La Carte

Ried Sernau König

A very high situated vineyard with South-Southwestern exposition on 500 m above sea level that gets protected by the surrounding forest. The river Drau played a huge role in the soil compilation of that specific spot, feeding it with loads and loads of gravel over the coarse of time. That particular alluvial soil produces wines of deep minerality with notes of juniper, fennel and gooseberry.

Wine is not static.
It evolves, matures and changes over time.

Our Standards

More than 15 years ago we started taking the first steps towards organic farming. We are now in the phase to convert to biodynamics. A logical step for us and a beginning without end. Every year we learn something new, observe nature and get closer to it bit by bit. We see our business as a form of modern circular economy in which wine is part of an overall concept. Partnerships with horse and cattle farmers have just as much space here as the use of the company’s own forest for energy production. Wine as a way of life.
